Abuja, 13 August 2026 – The Executive Director of SURBACH participated virtually as a mentee in Workshops 5 and 6 of the Nigeria–UK PACT Project: “Enhancing Nigeria’s Capacity in Global Climate Negotiations”, convened by the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC) in partnership with Perspectives Climate Research and Power Shift Africa.
Held from 10–13 August 2026 at Rockview Hotel Royale, Abuja, with virtual participation options, the 4-day workshop brought together representatives from Federal MDAs, academia, research institutions, civil society organisations, and members of Nigeria’s UNFCCC negotiation team.
A key highlight was the launch of the Nigeria Climate Negotiation Structured Mentorship Programme, aimed at strengthening institutional memory and developing the next generation of Nigerian climate negotiators.
This participation reinforces SURBACH’s commitment to evidence-based research, policy analysis, and capacity building to support Nigeria’s climate and sustainable development priorities.
We appreciate the National Council on Climate Change, UK PACT, Perspectives Climate Research, and Power Shift Africa for the opportunity to engage in this important national process.
